Joey Safchik is the political reporter at NBC San Diego. She covers local and state politics, with an emphasis on housing and immigration, and hosts a weekly show, Politically Speaking. She supplemented her journalism education with majors in political science and international studies. During her time at Medill, she traveled to the Middle East, reported from DC with Medill on the Hill and was the news director of Northwestern News Network, with which she won five student Emmy Awards.

With a background in finance, economics, marketing and journalism, Jenny currently leads the Knowledge & Insights function at the Deloitte Sports Business Group based in Manchester, UK. In her role, Jenny works to provide clients and the sports industry with insight into the trends, challenges, and opportunities across the market. She previously held roles at Morgan Stanley and the Chicago Bulls. “My time at Medill, in both journalism and integrated marketing communications, helped me refine the skills that I use every day in my professional career."
Since joining Variety in 2019, Moreau has helped grow the publication’s award-winning online news coverage to industry-leading levels as part of the web team. Since 2023, he has also overseen Variety’s editorial internship program with Jazz Tangcay, senior artisans editor. In addition to his news editing responsibilities, Moreau regularly contributes to Variety’s film and television sections and covers the Friday morning box office each week. Specializing in genre storytelling, Moreau has provided coverage of major shows like HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” Amazon’s “The Boys,” Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and all the latest superhero releases from Marvel and DC.
Throughout her time at Northwestern, Andrea held several marketing and communications internships in the tech industry, including for Intel and Zendesk, the latter of which she worked at for her Journalism Residency. After graduating from Northwestern in 2022 with her BSJ and IMC Certificate, Andrea transferred her Medill skills to the media sector. She now serves on the corporate marketing communications team at Hearst, helping to manage internal and external communications efforts and shape unique storytelling initiatives across the organization.

This quarter-long program provides undergraduates with an opportunity to learn by doing. Journalism students immerse themselves in outlets in Chicago, across the country or around the world, where they report, write, edit and produce content. Those focusing on marketing and communications practice their skills at public relations and marketing companies. Students are supported by faculty mentors along the way.
